I thought I’d better let you all know a little more about what’s going on at the Beer Festival. The 21st April is looming and with 12 days of beer and activities, we need to get you all organsied! You can view the beer list, although this is liable to change slightly due to availability & brewers whims, but rest assured there will be some stunning beers on show.
We will have around 10 London Beers on at any one time and will be changing them over the course of the festival as and when they run out. I guess you’ll just have to keep popping in to try them all! Now for a quick run down on the KEY events, or view the full calendar here.
Meet the Brewer – Thursday 21st April 8pm
First on the agenda is a Meet the Brewer evening with Pete Brissenden from Lovibonds Brewery in Henley on Thames. Pete will be talking us through the brewing process, the difference between craft beer & real ale & tasting some of his beers with us.
Live Music – Easter Friday 22nd April 9pm
Mike Dobie returns to rock Mount Bures. Mike is extremely busy at the moment, between launching his own new EP and performing in Monaco for Prince Albert, thankfully he has found time to return to Mount Bures. How much longer we’ll be able to hold onto this overdue rising star we just don’t know… don’t miss it, it could be thelast time!
Pete Brown – Thursday 28th April 8pm
The extremely knowledgable & talented beer writer Pete Brown will be sharing an excerpt or two from his incredibly entertaining books about Beer Culture, Beer History & Beer Drinking, he’ll also be tutoring a tasting session with some of the London Beers we have on offer, definitely not one to be missed, please let us know if you’d like to attend.
Bank Holiday Friday 29th April 9pm (The Royal Wedding Day)
Firstly we kick off with The Red Barrows, as seen on Sky TV recently! They will be performing one of their intensely complex syncronised flight plans right here in The thatchers Beer Garden. Donations to charity are encouraged as these brave ladies don red lycra and toutou’s.
Secondly there is a change of plan, The Novelty Dog Show will be held after the Red Barrows performance on Friday afternoon. There will be five categories as usual: Waggiest Tail; Best Trick; Best 6 Legs; Best Groomed & Junior Handler. All categories are £1 to enter with a prize for the winner & all proceeds going to charity.
The evening of the Royal Wedding will see James Sakal on the piano, singing his heart out with old pub classics and everything from ABBA to The Zutons! There is always a great atmophere in the pub when James plays and after the days events, what better way to wind down…
Beer & Food Matching Saturday 30th April
Once again we’ll be hosting a seven course tasting menu with a different beer to compliment each course. We are able to cater for vegetarians and other dietary requirements if we know in advance. Bookings are essential for the increasingly popular event. £28.50 per head including the beer.
